The Student Loan Advising Course for Financial Planners

The CSLP® (Certified Student Loan Professional) Program offers specialized training for financial advisors to integrate student loan repayment planning into a master financial plan.

  • A comprehensive online curriculum guides the advisor through all the repayment plans, loan program qualification, forgiveness rules, deferments, consolidations, specialty grant programs for various professions, and additional topics.
  • The CFP Board will provide 13 CE for the successful completion of the program.
  • Case studies provide example walk-throughs on advising for various complex loan scenarios, such as a married couple who work in healthcare, each with their own set of loans. The case studies provide details on necessary client intake steps, a review of client goals, an explanation of their options, and a discussion of benefits.
  • Learn how to assess client scenarios and make appropriate recommendations based on their available repayment options.
  • The program also includes additional time-saving documents used in the client consultation.

FPA Advantage

  • This is a specialty designation for financial planners, investment advisors, and tax professionals who wish to advise clients on student loan repayment matters.

  • The program trains participants to analyze available repayment plans based on the client's economic situation and assist in their adjustments.
  • The program illustrates the advising analysis and recommendation process through multiple 'walk-through' case studies.
